Does RF Microneedling Really Work? What Does the Evidence Say?

Yes, research supports RF microneedling for improving acne scars and signs of skin ageing, although results vary.

Tiny needles deliver heat beneath the skin’s surface, encouraging collagen production. Collagen helps keep skin firm and supported, with improvements developing gradually over several months.

What does the research show?

A randomised trial involving 60 people found significant improvement in acne scars after three treatments. A wider review of 16 studies involving 481 patients also found promising results for acne scarring.

A separate review of 42 studies supported benefits for skin rejuvenation and acne scars. However, machines, settings and treatment plans differ, so results cannot be guaranteed.

What about safety?

Burns, scarring, unwanted fat loss and nerve damage have been reported. A thorough consultation and a suitably trained medical practitioner are essential.

At SE Medical, I assess your skin, explain the benefits and risks, and recommend a personalised plan with realistic expectations. **We only use a medical grade CE approved RF Microneedling device.
